Es descrito como el dios de las artes, del arco y la flecha. Era símbolo de inspiración profética y artística, siendo el patrono del más famoso oráculo de la Antigüedad, el oráculo de Delfos, y líder de las musas. Como jefe de las Musas inspiradoras (con el epíteto Apolo Musageta), y director de su coro, actuaba como dios patrón de la música y la poesía.
Y así es representado en algunos de estos roles además de representar los mitos de Dafne y Jacinto (el famoso discóbolo)

He is described as the god of the arts, of the bow and arrow. He was a symbol of prophetic and artistic inspiration, being the patron of the most famous oracle of antiquity, the oracle of Delphi, and leader of the Muses. As head of the inspiring Muses (with the epithet Apollo Musageta), and director of his choir, he acted as patron god of music and poetry.
And so he is represented in some of these roles as well as representing the myths of Daphne and Hyacinth (the famous Discobolus).
