José Badás es un fotógrafo que vive en Gijón, en el norte de España, cuyo aprendizaje ha sido autodidacta y tiene actualmente 59 años de edad.
Tras unos inicios dubitativos sobre el camino a seguir descubrió la fotografía construida, la preparación previa en la mente de una escena y su posterior realización físicamente. Este tipo de fotografía le permitió plasmar conceptos e ideas persistentes, lo que le sedujo y le convenció de haber encontrado el porqué de hacer fotografía
Las influencias son variadas, aunque todas vienen fundamentalmente del cine, el cómic y la música. Un proyecto sobre el disco El Muro de Pink Floyd le indujo a trabajar en series fotográficas en lugar de fotografías independientes, desarrollando a partir de ese momento diferentes temáticas como el automatismo surrealista, fotografía basada en el cine negro o sentimientos humanos entre otras.
Estos trabajos fueron mostrados en diferentes exposiciones individuales en salas privadas y organismos culturales municipales.
También participó en diferentes jornadas fotográficas como las jornadas [In]visibles en Castro del Río (Córdoba) o las jornadas DeFoto organizadas por el Ateneo Obrero de Gijón (Asturias), entre otras
En marzo de 2018 su mujer tiene un accidente grave de automóvil y él mismo, nueve meses después, sufre un infarto. Tras un año de vacío decide plasmar lo sucedido en un fotolibro, Heart Crash Attack, en el que, siguiendo una estructura de novela gráfica, relata mediante la abstracción, método que nunca había utilizado, los momentos vividos.
A finales de 2024 publicó su segundo libro, Xelf, que aglutina el trabajo de varios años sobre el erotismo a través del cuerpo masculino buscando una visión transversal del mismo.
Actualmente vive tranquilo y agradecido con su mujer y su hijo pequeño pensando en nuevos proyectos con los que plasmar sus inquietudes.

José Badás is a photographer living in Gijón, in northern Spain, whose learning has been self-taught, and he is currently 59 years old. After some hesitant beginnings regarding the path to follow, he discovered constructed photography—the premeditation of a scene in the mind and its subsequent physical realization. This type of photography allowed him to capture persistent concepts and ideas, which captivated him and convinced him that he had found the reason for pursuing photography.
Influences come from various sources, primarily from film, comics, and music. A project about Pink Floyd’s album «The Wall» led him to work on photographic series instead of individual photos, exploring themes such as surrealist automatism, film noir-based photography, and human emotions.
These works were showcased in various solo exhibitions in private galleries and municipal cultural institutions. He also participated in different photographic events, such as the [In]visible days in Castro del Río (Córdoba) or the DeFoto days organized by the Ateneo Obrero de Gijón (Asturias), among others.
In March 2018, his wife had a serious car accident, and nine months later, he suffered a heart attack. After a year of emptiness, he decided to document the events in a photobook, «Heart Crash Attack.» Following a graphic novel structure and using abstraction, a method he had never used before, he recounted the lived moments.
At the end of 2024 he published his second book, Xelf, which brings together several years of work on eroticism through the male body, seeking a transversal vision on it.
Currently, he lives peacefully and grateful with his wife and young son, contemplating new projects to express his concerns.
